SUSTAINABLE BASICS

FASHION IS A DIRTY BUSINESS

"true sustainability is quality that lasts a lifetime"

Clothing has become cheap, fast and disposable. But at what price? Toxic chemicals, water waste, a lack of sustainability and unfair working conditions are common issues attached to the fashion industry.

SANVT is part of a movement that aims to reverse this trend. We appreciate quality and craftsmanship and want people to take a long-term, resourceful approach to fashion. This is why we create sustainable basics that last longer; garments that last five years, not five washes. We invest in quality materials and workmanship – this is where real longevity starts.

Our Impact Report 2023

NOW PUBLISHED

Every year, we look back to evaluate the impact we had on humans, nature and local communities. Even though our impact report focuses on 2023, it’s the culmination of four years of hard work and the kick-off for the next years to come.

FAIR
PRODUCTION

We only work with trusted, certified production partners in Europe. Ethical factories that treat people with respect and share our vision to continuously reduce the impact we have on the environment.

WATER RECYCLING

Fashion is responsible for nearly 20% of the world’s water pollution. Over 2,000 chemicals are used in order to process conventional textiles – including nasty ones like mercury, formaldehyde and chlorine.

However, it doesn’t have to be that way! At SANVT, we dye all of our fabrics without harmful chemicals or heavy metals. In addition, our factories work with closed loop systems, ensuring nothing is sent back into nature that doesn’t belong there. By doing this, we recycle 99.9% of waste water.

LESS CO2. MORE SUSTAINABILITY.

In order to minimise emissions, we keep things local and transport our products by road and boat. In addition, our modern factories only use machinery with A or B-grade energy efficiency for knitting and dying processes.

After we carried out in-depth analysis, we discovered that the complete production process of The Perfect T-Shirt generated 5kg CO2 (by now reduced to 3.4kg). These emissions are about 50% lower than a conventionally produced T-Shirt.

NATURAL &
BIODEGRADABLE

Synthetic clothing releases microplastics that end up in lakes and oceans after washing. That’s because synthetic clothing is made from – you guessed it – plastic. Furthermore, synthetics (and synthetic blends) are also extremely difficult to recycle.

At SANVT, we only use natural and biodegradable fibres. Even our care labels are made from 100% natural cotton and not from widely used polyester. This has another positive side effect: zero scratchiness!

CLIMATEPARTNER-CERTIFIED

We are always endeavouring to reduce our impact on the environment. In order to record all emissions along our supply chain as accurately as possible and reduce them in future, we follow the integrated climate protection strategy developed by ClimatePartner: 1) Calculate C02 footprint (product-related and company-related carbon footprint); 2) Set reduction targets; 3) Implement reductions; 4) Support climate protection projects; 5) Communicate transparently

In cooperation with ClimatePartner, we finance climate protection projects in the amount of our remaining emissions and are also financially committed to regional nature conservation. For every tonne of CO2 that is saved through the contribution via a certified climate protection project, a subsidy amount goes to the Karwendel Nature Park. The nature conservation project is currently being combined with a certified wind energy project in Turkey. More information on the combined project: https://fpm.climatepartner.com/project/1285/en.

PLASTIC-FREE
PACKAGING

Our packaging is 100% plastic-free. We avoid widely-used poly-bags or any kind of plastic at all.

Instead, our T-Shirts get their final envelopes inside the factory – made from reusable and recycled paper. It’s also the little things that count…

INTERNATIONAL REFORESTATION

In addition to supporting local reforestation programmes in Germany, we also work with international partners.

In collaboration with “Eden Projects“, we plant one tree in some of the poorest regions of the world for every SANVT garment sold. Here you can follow our process.
