How to layer like a pro

We asked Leon von Lipinski, one of our favourite trendsetters for his layering tips for autumn and he showed us three versatile outfits that balance comfort, warmth and style. Here's how to master layering with these key looks:

Look 1: The Zip Hoodie & Polo Combo

Start with a classic white polo shirt as your base layer - it adds a clean and smart element to your outfit. Throw on a light grey zip-up hoodie for extra warmth and a casual vibe. Pair this with a pair of relaxed black chinos for a polished yet comfortable look. This outfit is perfect for those slightly chilly days when you need a light layer but still want to look sharp.

Pro tip: Opt for neutral colours like grey and white for your layers; they blend effortlessly and give you a sophisticated look.

Look 2: The Smart Knit and Oxford Shirt

For a more sophisticated look, layer a light grey knit jumper over a white Oxford shirt. The peeking collar and cuffs create a smart, layered effect that elevates your style. Complete the outfit with the same black chinos to keep the look together. This is the ideal layering combination for a business casual meeting or a dinner date in the cooler weather.

Pro tip: Make sure the shirt is slightly longer than the jumper, allowing the hem to show to add texture and dimension to your outfit. This creates a sophisticated, layered look without being too formal.

Look 3: The Overshirt & Tee Pairing

The ultimate blend of casual and smart, this outfit starts with a simple white T-shirt as a base layer, topped with a light blue Oxford shirt left unbuttoned. This layering creates a casual yet deliberate style. The black relaxed chinos keep the look balanced and versatile, making it perfect for a range of occasions from a casual lunch to a day out on the town.

Pro tip: Leave the Oxford shirt unbuttoned for a casual look or button it up slightly for a more polished look. A pastel or light-coloured shirt adds just the right pop of colour while maintaining an overall clean look.
